Co-presented with Asian Art Hong Kong, the October 6th edition of Liang Yi Talks features prominent photographer, calligrapher and book artist Michael Cherney.

Intellectually engaging, meditative, and often simply beautiful, Cherney’s photographs are a beguiling mix of the modern and traditional. Drawing heavily on the subtleties of China's scholarly and esoteric traditions, he uses grainy, almost blurred images of landscapes to explore the relationship between gongbi (what the eye sees) and xieyi (what the heart sees), the tangible and the obscure.

Reflecting the theme of Liang Yi Museum's newly opened exhibition, The Secret Garden: Symbols of Nature in Wood, Silver and Gold, Cherney will discuss the vital role of nature in his work, as well as the process behind the creation of his recent series, Ten Thousand Li of the Yangtze River.
